Tournaments

How to prepare for a tournament

  • Talk to the coaches! We’re happy to talk to you about preparing for an event. If you need to borrow club equipment for an event, please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Read USA Archery’s Event Reference Guidebook. It is a great explanation of the basic rules and expectations at archery events. (Yes, there is a dress code!) While it is specific to USA Archery, most of the same rules apply to other associations. If you plan to attend another Association’s event, be sure to review the rules of that specific event.
  • Ask the coaches about the USA Archery’s Achievement program. This program provides instruction on competition shooting lines (and etiquette) and how to score.
  • Watch online events. Several associations/competitions stream/post their events on YouTube. For example:

The following associations maintain event calendars. For the most up to date information, visit their web sites. Review the tournament requirements before you sign up. Often they have their own dress code/equipment requirements. Also, while some associations allow archers to compete as guests, others will require you to purchase a membership.
